2015 Philippine-Japan Friendship/TANABATA FESTIVAL in Baguio
Philippine-Japan Friendship month/Tanabata Festival 2015 was kicked off by Tanabata Decoration Workshop on July 19, 2015.
Abong (Filipino-Japanese Foundation of Northern Luzon) held the Tanabata Decoration Workshop together with Japanese Association in Northern Luzon and Japanese volunteers.
Baguio Tanabata Festival is trying to copy Sendai city style Tanabata festival that is the biggest and gorgeous Tanabata festival in Japan.
Sendai city is the center of Tohoku (North East) region of Japan and the city is called as "Capital of Forest" , just like the center of Northern Luzon and "City of Pines" of Baguio city.
Sendai style Tanabata decoration has Seven Ornaments, such as,
Fukinagashi Streamers, Kinchaku Pouch, Tanzaku paper strip, Kamigoromo Japanese Kimono, Toami Fishing Net, Kuzukago Trash Net, Orizuru Paper Crane.

very fortunately , it was a very nice weather on July 19, after the strong and continuous rain for the past three weeks.
Tanabata is called "Star festival" or "Bamboo festival" and it is held either on July 7 or August 7 depending on the regions in Japan.

Now, the next Big event is COSPLAY TANABATA FESTIVAL 4 to be held on July 26 at Baguio City National High School.
